Biophysics is an interdisciplinary science that applies the approaches and methods of physics to study biological systems. Biophysics covers all scales of biological organization, from molecular to organismic and populations. Biophysical research shares significant overlap with biochemistry, physical chemistry, nanotechnology, bioengineering, computational biology, biomechanics and systems biology. This Level 6 Diploma in Biophysics is designed by UK Public College to address biological questions like those in biochemistry and molecular biology and to find the physical underpinnings of biomolecular phenomena. This course will give participants access to a quantitative grounding in the Biophysical Science. Thus, participants will be comfortable engaging with physics as with biology, and will be able to apply the distinctive conceptual frameworks of these different disciplines to problems at the boundary between physics and the living world.
Start Date: You can start this course any day of the year.
Course Duration: 6-9 Weeks
Course Fee: Course Fee for this course is £147
Course Contents
Course Contents
This course is designed to teach participants some aspects of biology from a physics perspective. This course will cover topics such as cell structure, random walks and diffusion, entropic forces, chemical forces, macromolecules, and molecular mechanisms and machines. This Certificate course will explore organisms at all levels of biological organization from the macroscopic (e.g. movement, muscle contractions, breathing) to the microscopic (e.g. cell division, molecular motors, energy generation and conversion, cellular reactions to physical stimuli). Participants will be expose you to the knowledge and techniques applicable not only to humans but also to plants and animals and provide a solid background for positions in the environmental and agricultural sectors.
At the end of this course, you will be awarded a Level 6 Diploma in Biophysics, and will also be able to:
Design and conduct complex life-science research projects.
Manage and monitor lab teams write technical reports and research papers and present research findings to other scientists and colleagues in journals and at scientific conferences
Perform extensive independent research and development.
Use, maintain, and clean electron microscopes, lasers, and other laboratory instruments and equipment to carry out their research.
Use computer modeling software to determine the three-dimensional structures of proteins and other molecules.
Observe the effects of substances such as drugs, hormones, and food on tissues and biological processes.
Study the genetic mutations in organisms that lead to cancer and other diseases.
Certification Students will be awarded the Level 6 Diploma in Biophysics. The Certificate is Internationally recognised and will open unlimited opportunities to the learners.
